Plant horizontally in a sunny area. Comfrey makes a nice neighbor to the compost bin where you can chop the leaves down and periodically layer them into your compost. Comfrey's deep taproot brings up nutrients from deeper in the soil than most roots reach and adds a nice profile of trace minerals into your compost. Fast growing. Opportunity to chop and drop up to seven times in a growing season. Chopped leaves can also be layered at the base of plants for a light mulch and slow soil building.
